Kelly and I just got back from our visit to Virginia and what a great time it was. Our flights were perfect, going there and coming back. No long layovers, and no delays. That alone makes any trip perfect.
We arrived at National around 4ish on Tuesday and jumped on the metro to ride into Springfield for our chauffeur, dad. He brought along his driving buddy Madeline. She was almost as excited to see us as we were to see her. After a quiet ride back to the metro, we noticed the grand entrance to the Casa de Doroshenk. What a nice porch. Inside, Mom and Mary were there to great us. And then finally we made our way upstairs to see Alexa and Declan. What a cute new addition to the family Declan is.
Wednesday we hung out with the family during the day and did some shopping for the weeks festivities. That night was Angela's birthday so we got to hang out with the Harrison's, the Caven's, and Jason.
Thursday morning Kelly and I got up early to go running with Mary at her house. Afterwards, Alexa, Mom and them went to the spa while I hung out with Declan and Nate. I was able to professionally feed Declan. My first baby feeding ever!
Friday I went to Madeline's soccer practice and was a guest Coach. Sort of like how Miami brought in Bill Parcells, the Hippo House had to bring me in to turn around the organization. It was a blast playing soccer with Madeline even though a little girl taunted me when i was frozen during Sharks and Minnows. After practice, Madeline showed me her monkey skills on the playground and then we headed back to Mary's to watch some Clifford, spoiler alert -- he saves the library --.
Saturday we got to hang out with Jeremiah and Emily and their new Daughter Ellie. It was raining out so we just got to sit around and talk and watch Ellie be awesome.
Sunday we had a bbq and it turned into a reunion. Joe and Sevi were able to come up to hang out with us for the night. The McCabes came up for Florida cause they are always ready to party. Amy was up for work from Florida with Caroline. The Durkee's came in all the way from Maryland. So alot of people we haven't seen in a long time were able to make it. In all I think there were 10 kids there. That was a record for me. We had a great time and glad for everyone could make it.
Our trip lasted to short, but our stomachs couldn't handle much more cookies and beer. Always fun to see everyone and wish we could do it more often. If anyone is up for an Idaho trip, we are here and the fireplace is on (it was 35 this morning).
