Moscow Mountain
Saturday Kelly and I took the dogs for an afternoon hike around Moscow Mountain. This side of the Mountain we've only been one time before in the winter when we went snow shoeing up it. This time it was in the 70's and sunny. We usually run and hike on the closer side of the mountain near our house, but the further side seems to have more vistas to look over the Palouse.
Here are some of the pics.

Today I Saw a Man about a Horse
And that Man was Jesus!
Kelly and I go running before work most days and today was no exception. We run up to the middle school, do some laps on the track and then run home. Today was an odd one for me, for as I passed by the Catholic Church, about two blocks from our house, I see a horse standing in the alley behind it. Not sure what that horse was doing in that alley behind the church, we might never know. But, something tells me that this horse was impressed by me as I passed by that alley. Going full speed down the road, I had a poop bag in one hand and Margo's leash in the other. Both of us galloping towards our awaiting breakfast.

John's Virginia Visit
This past week I headed back to Virginia for a "surprise" appearance at Alexa's baby shower. I arrived late Wednesday night after an uneventful flight, much easier flying in the summer then in the winter. Thursday Mom and I went to surprise Mary as she came out of her doctors appointment. Mary walked out of the office with me sitting in a chair in the hallway. She sort of glanced at me and walked by. I asked her, "You would walk by your own brother?" To which she turned around with a really crazy look on her face of shock, followed by "John....what are you doing here". So this surprise worked out great. We then met up with Alexa before she headed to work and then did some chores with Mom around town. Thursday night, Jeremiah and Emily picked me up for a night of hanging out with them and the Harrisons for a chill evening.

The family
Friday was Chipotle Day. We aren't fortunate to have Chipotle out here in Idaho, so I had me a Barbacoa Burrito...mmmm chipotle!!!!! Friday night after hanging out with friends and family, it was time to visit Alexa again. Jason was kind enough to drive his overheating car out to Arlington with myself, Joe, and Rebecca. We hung out for a while before feeling the need to rock! Rock band was once again dominated with the usual line up of me on lead axe, Nate on drums, Joe on bass, and Alexa front and center as our songstress. We stayed up late enough to win us our touring van.
Saturday was Alexa's Baby Shower. That was a great time with BBQing, beer, cake, and present opening. Sevi won the rubber band game and took home a winning lotto ticket.

It's a boy!
Maybe it's my "pregnancy brain"... but I just realized we found out our baby is a boy about six weeks ago, and I never posted a blog about it!
Nate and I are very excited and debating names. Actually, Nate has decided to call him a different name each week from our name lists to see if one sticks. I have a feeling which one we'll go with... but everyone will have to wait to find out what it will be!
I'm doing well and feeling pretty good. I've been keeping busy with prenatal water aerobics and prenatal yoga while Nate is playing soccer, flag football, and basketball.
About three months to go!

This House is Now Warm
Kelly and I finally took ownership of our new Wood Insert last night! With the heat off, the room got up to 67 when we went to sleep without reloading it with more wood. Unfortunately, I only bought a small bundle of wood from the gas station so we are out of wood and this morning its snowing! Luckily we live in Idaho and Craig's List is full of dealers of wood. So time to hit that up. We think Thumper slept all night on the hearth pad where he experienced warmth for the first time since August.

March roars in like a lion...
March has been a busy month so far. Kelly's Dad, sister Amy, and brother-in-law Bill came for a winter visit to experience snow on the Palouse. And the weather didn't disappoint! After a late-night pickup on Thursday at the Spokane airport, everyone went to bed. On a bright and sunny Friday, the gang hit the town, checking out the Moscow Food Co-op, the downtown area, WSU (the grizzly bears were surprisingly already awake), Ferdinand's ice cream, and Camas Prairie Winery. Friday night was quiet, as John and Kelly mentally prepared themselves for the Snake River Canyon Half Marathon on Saturday. Up early the next day, J and K headed down to the race, which started at 10am. It was a cold, windy morning, but the temps got a bit warmer and the wind behaved itself as race time neared. Both Doroshenks dominated the race along the Snake River: Kelly finished in 2:05 and John pulled in at 2:15. Tired but happy to be done, the kids headed home to see what their guests had been up to.

John Gets In Shape
Well its time, I have to post this to make it official so I'll have to post again on if I did it. Kelly and I signed up for the Snake River Half Marathon (March 7th), which is officially 3.1 miles more then my longest race before. Take that Army 10 Miler! On top of that, I'm currently on my quest to crank out 100 Push Ups in a Row. Training for that can be found here: One Hundred Push UP Challenge, I'm currently in Week 5, so now that I'm posting this, i can't quit!
In other news, we got a Wii for Christmas and then later got the Wii Fit. It has this feature where you weigh in and take some tests and it tells you your age, this 31 year old is actually 28 according to the Wii Fit. So yeah, I'm pretty much an athlete.

Well, everyone else is doing it....
Yup, Nate and Alexa are expecting! The little one is due August 6th so start thinking about placing your bets now. You KNOW the Doroshenks are going to be gambling about the birth.
We will be finding out the sex, but that won't be for another two months.
So far things are looking good! Nausea is fading and Alexa is getting naps whenever she can.

The Harrison's Come To Idaho
Last week we were pleased to have our next round of visitors, the Harrison's! Idaho and Washington have been under an air stagnation warning for almost two weeks now, which means all air is trapped in the region and can't get out, so we've been having freezing fog every day. This is bad news if you are flying into the region. So on Wednesday night, the Harrison's got stuck in Salt Lake City for the night, which worked out well so I didn't have to drive 2 hours and get them in Spokane, so instead they flew in Thursday into Lewiston, only 30 minutes from us.
After finally making it back to Moscow, we all unwinded and relaxed for a bit. Kelly was still at work so you know what that means. Ferdinand's Ice Cream! Lyla was especially excited for Ice Cream, cause who doesn't love ice cream? After that we headed home, ate some dinner, drank some wine, and played some Wii! Ben and I headed out late night to hit the Moscow Bar Scene and afterwords took Ben to the Late Night Bagel place.
Friday was a nice sunny day we took a stroll to the city park to play in the snow covered playground.

We made it home
We'll add some stories and pics from our visit soon, but our trip home from the east coast was the biggest adventure. We left Reagan National Airport on Saturday at 12:30 on the dot, pulled onto the tarmac, and proceeded to sit there for almost 4 hours. They claimed it was because of some air space dispute between the Washington Region and the New York region of the FAA.
We finally made it to JFK around 5, missing our 4:00 flight to Salt Lake. So kelly and I sat down to a beer and split a sandwich, ouch, 40 bucks! What a rip. We now hate JFK. We made the 7:30 fight to Salt Lake and landed around 11:15, got a hotel and got some much needed sleep.
Sunday morning we got our free breakfast and went back to the airport for our 10:50 flight back to Lewiston. Unfortunately, our plane was stuck in Oakland where they had ice on the wings, but no deicers. So they had to park the plane in the sun for 3 hours to naturally melt the plane. I'm guessing that is good for the water shed out there. Finally the plane comes in and we board, then end up sitting on that plane for 30 minutes cause they had 2 more people on board then were suppose to be on the plane. Finally they figured that our and we got off the ground.
We finally landed and waited for our bags which never came, so we went to the Delta counter to make our claims, but magically our bags were behind the desk. Not sure if they were on the same plane or somehow beat us home. We'll never know. So since it was open, we hit up Costco, for some shopping and gas. $1.31 baby!
The snow that we left on the ground must have melted and re froze and then more snow came on top of it. So we had to park in the street to unload our stuff and then started shoveling. I ditched Kelly to shovel out the drive way and went to get the dogs from the Kennel. The road out to the kennel was plowed but drifting snow made some spots a little hairy.
I got the dogs home and everyone was excited to see each other, Margo, Chester, and Thumper all stuck to us like glue.
Luckily it snowed over night another 8-12 inches and is still coming down, so we've spent most of this morning cleaning out the drive way the best we could.
